about

anagenic is a word I made up to mean: ana = like, genic = everything.
I wanted to make a sound world that had “everything” in it, all sounds. My skills as a professional sound editor were improving and now sounds I made at home were being used on HBO - I was immersed. Made mostly with my Serge and endless tape editing and mixing, I released it first as a cassette and it won “Tape of The Year ” in Polyphony Magazine. I was determined to synthesize real sounding things and manipulating real sounds into something new. I was also obsessed with the very dense, very quiet distant textures. I had discovered early reflection delay lines and spatial realism - I was on a mission.

John Wiggins is best known as an Emmy winning film and television sound designer, working for HBO and his own production company, Wonderland Sound. Wiggins is a master of the techniques of musique concrete, his experimental work often consists of painstakingly arranged synthetic and natural sounds that create extraordinary "living" audio environments. In 2017 Wiggins was one of the distinguished winners of "PRESQUE RIEN" Luc Ferrari Prize.

Acousmatique is a record label from San Francisco, California that is focused on publishing and promoting the contemporary music in the Acousmatic, Electroacoustic, Immersive Audio, Musique Concrete, and West Coast music genres.
